As its name suggests, this washed coffee comes to us from Kiambu County in Kenya.
Our Kenya Kiambu AA is a washed processed coffee from various smallholder farmers across Kiambu County. The coffee cherries from these farmers are brought to the Ngaita Coffee Factory, one of 3 washing stations in the county, where they are first sorted for quality and then de-pulped, washed, and dried.
Coffees from Kenya tend to be fan favorites due in large parts to their brightness and crisp acidity. Since coffees grown in Kenya are grown at higher elevations, the coffee cherries mature more slowly than at low altitudes, providing them with more nutrients and allowing them more time to develop their flavors. This longer growth period endows the beans with complex yet familiar flavor profiles and allows both seasoned coffee lovers and newcomers to find something endearing in each cup.
Expect a cup with heavy notes of chocolate and black cherry that is both rich and winey.
